Thanks to Jon Travis, the New Horizons High School’s Future Farmers of American (FFA) boys were able to attend the 83rd Washington FFA State Convention in Pullman, Washington on May 9. Jon was the male chaperone for the New Horizons’ group where they spent two days learning about leadership. As the male chaperone he slept on the dorm floor with the boys; provided supervision throughout the trip; made sure they were safe; and helped them meet their schedules.

New Horizons is an alternative high school located in Pasco, Washington. Four of the High School’s FFA members went to the annual convention where they were able to interact with more than 2,000 FFA members from across the state. New Horizons’ students got to visit a college campus, meet FFA members from around the state, and meet professionals in the agriculture industry.
