Environmental Database Manager

Mike loves working with data. He is experienced in collecting, managing, analyzing, and modeling data. He is proficient in a number of programming languages, including SQL, Python, Java, Javascript, and shell scripting languages.

Before joining GSI, Mike worked at a company that applied cutting edge statistical methods to remotely sensed imagery to improve water resources management. Prior to that, he worked in research and development related to restoration of salmon habitat, where he designed monitoring studies, conducted statistical modeling and GIS-based analyses, and performed data migration, integration, and management.

Mike began his career in environmental law, and is knowledgeable about state and federal environmental laws and regulations, particularly western water law and the federal Endangered Species Act. While his transition from environmental law to programming and data management may seem unusual, the common theme is application of logic to real-world problems. From the moment he wrote his first program, Mike was hooked.
