Walt has been providing hydrogeological services for more than 25 years. He is a regional authority on groundwater resource characterization and supply development studies, including aquifer storage and recovery (ASR). Walt is a founding principal of GSI.
He has successfully completed numerous groundwater supply planning projects using his knowledge about the integration of water rights strategies with water supply development alternatives, including ASR. These projects incorporated a variety of elements such as aquifer characterization and yield analysis, well interference analysis, groundwater/surface water interaction studies to inform water rights, water quality improvement strategies, assessment and optimization of existing groundwater facilities and source water vulnerability studies. Walt is also an expert on the design, performance assessment and rehabilitation of water supply wells. Recently, he was involved in developing watershed enhancement strategies designed to restore groundwater levels and augment stream flows for fish passage in seasonally flow-limited streams using aquifer recharge technologies.
