GSI's Rodrigo Prugue and Libby Smith joined Willamette Riverkeeper's 11th annual Great Willamette Clean Up this past weekend to help collect trash and debris from the river. They launched their canoe from Milwaukie Bay and paddled around collecting garbage all morning. Fun finds: a shoe and a sock (not together), lots of Styrofoam bits and broken glass, a tape measure, a deflated rubber raft, straws and bottle caps, a rolling cart, and a dangerous rake-like object.This volunteer event is held on the first Saturday in October at various sites along the length of the Willamette.
