GSI completed a comprehensive review of water resources for Morrow County and developed initiatives and policies to help improve ongoing water supply issues.
Morrow County has experienced ongoing water quality and water quantity issues that threaten access to high-quality drinking water in the region. In 2023 and 2024, GSI helped organize and guide the County’s response to these long-standing water resources issues. We identified a range of water initiatives and policy concepts by developing a baseline and common understanding of the water issues facing the County and working with the Water Advisory Committee (WAC) formed by the County for this effort. GSI developed a series of briefing papers highlighting the following topics: water quantity, water quality, issues facing domestic well users, and planned and ongoing water projects to address these issues conducted by private and non-governmental organizations in the region. In response to the issues and input from the WAC, GSI developed water initiatives and policy concepts for the County to pursue. These initiatives included updating the comprehensive plan, developing a Morrow County Water Program, supporting regional water planning, and developing a partnership with Port of Morrow to facilitate the implementation of drinking water infrastructure projects.
